“I’ve always loved albums,” she told Kimmel, explaining why she prefers to release full-length projects. “I really like when something feels like a whole, cohesive, and well thought out.”

Billie Eilish, who made history as the youngest person to win the top four Grammy Awards in 2020, has explained how she carefully curates the flow of each album. “I write all the names, I tear them up, I move them around… it’s all about the dynamics and the flow.”

The “Lunch” singer also spoke about her long-standing relationship with her fans, comparing seeing familiar faces at her concerts over the years to “seeing old friends.”

“What’s really cool is that all these fans, all my little family, we grew up at the same time,” she told Kimmel. “There were so many kids, especially in L.A. because I’m from here and I’m around here, when I first started, there were certain kids that I would see at everything that I did, and we were all the same age.”

Eilish continued: “They would come to events and I would see them a few times a year, then not for a few years, then I would see them again. Over the years, I’ve seen the same faces a few times, and it’s like seeing my old friends again.”

Elsewhere in the interview, she treated the audience to an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip of her and her brother, Finneas, working on the track “Birds of a Feather” in the back of an SUV in Brazil.

“It’s a very normal thing for Finneas and me,” she said, referring to their sibling collaboration that has produced numerous hits, including the James Bond theme “No Time to Die.” “We’ve recorded everywhere from the bunk of a tour bus to small hotel rooms. It’s casual, but we love it.”

With her Hit me hard and soft As her world tour kicks off September 29 in Quebec, Billie Eilish opened up about how she handles life on the road. “I never want to resent it,” she explained. “I love touring, but you can start to hate yourself if you’re away for too long, so I make sure to take breaks between tours.”
