Missouri City, Texas – During the search for a missing mother from Missouri City, skeletal remains were found, police say.

Karen Miles was last seen at her home in the Missouri City/Harris County area on August 21. Missouri City police said Miles did not show up for work on August 22.

Miles’ disappearance

On August 25, Pearland police used flock cameras to track stolen Arkansas license plates on Miles’ car. Police stopped them in the HEB parking lot at the Pearland Business Center, where a man named Davante Clark was in the driver’s seat and Miles was nowhere to be found. Police arrested Clark on charges unrelated to Miles’ disappearance.

Although authorities say Clark had a gun on him, he is not connected to Miles’ disappearance. At the time, Pearland police were unaware that Miles was missing. Her children, who live out of state, reported her missing on August 28 after they were unable to reach her.

According to police, Clark and Miles do not appear to know each other and it is unclear how he gained access to her vehicle.

Investigators said they have not ruled out foul play but are confident Miles will be found unharmed.

Clark is currently considered a person of interest.

A tip from the police led investigators to remains

On Tuesday, Missouri City police received a tip about Miles’ whereabouts in the 16000 block of Blue Ridge Road. A search of a thick brush and deep wooded area turned up skeletal remains.

The Fort Bend County Coroner will perform an autopsy and confirm the identity of the remains.

“The Missouri City Police Department wants to assure family, friends and everyone who knows Karen that we are conducting a fair and thorough investigation,” the department said in a statement.
