Three people in hospital after explosion in Polson

POLSON — At 9:14 a.m. Thursday morning, the City of Polson Fire Department received a report of a structure fire near the intersection of Highway 93 and 4th Street East. In less than 5 minutes, firefighters arrived on scene and found light smoke coming from the roof and heavy smoke present in the building.

Construction crews were on site at the time of the incident, working on the building. Crews reported that there was some sort of explosion. Three people were taken to hospital with burns.

According to a Facebook post by the Polson Fire Department, the fire damage was contained to the unit where it started and did not spread to the rest of the building.

The fire-fighting and renovation work lasted until about 11:30 a.m., after which the building was returned to the owners.

A total of 7 firefighters with 27 people were on site; no injuries to firefighters were reported.

Polson Rural Fire District, Polson Emergency Services, Lake County of Emergency Management, Polson Police, Lake County Dispatch and Mission Valley Power all assisted in responding to the incident.
