Government official rapes underage Dalit girl and goat in Bulandshahr and is arrested

UP News: A government official of the agriculture department in Shikarpur district of Bulandshahr in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping and sodomizing a 10-year-old Dalit girl. According to police, the incident took place at the victim’s house on Monday.

The accused was identified as Gajendra, 57, a resident of Rasulpur village. He had gone to the house of an acquaintance in a village during the day, a police official told news agency ANI. He was arrested. The accused allegedly raped the girl in the house and had unnatural sex with a goat, according to a report in the Times of India.

Commenting on the incident, DSP Shobit Kumar said, “On August 12, 2024, at around 10 pm, PS Ahmadgarh received information that a person named Gajendra, son of Dharampal, resident of Rasulpur village, had gone to the house of an acquaintance in a village during the day and found the acquaintance’s daughter alone and molested and raped her. He also misbehaved with a goat. A case was immediately registered in this regard and the accused was arrested. Legal action has been initiated against the accused…”

According to the victim’s father, Gajendra Singh, an agricultural development officer, raped his daughter and attacked a goat in his house, police commissioner Shlok Kumar said, news agency PTI reported.

Defendant arrested and summoned

Based on the complaint, Singh has been booked under the SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act, the POCSO Act, Section 65 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, police said, according to PTI. The SSP said the entire act was captured on video by a child standing nearby.

District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh said he and the SSP met the girl’s family and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also took cognizance of the matter. The girl’s family will be given Rs 825,000 financial assistance, the minister said.
