A man died in an accident in NE Portland, a 21-year-old man was charged with manslaughter

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – A 51-year-old man has died and a 21-year-old man has been arrested following Monday’s crash in Northeast PortlandThe Portland Police Bureau said Wednesday.

Shortly after 6:30 a.m., police responded to a two-car collision near Northeast Halsey Street and Northeast 118th Avenue.

After an initial investigation, police determined the crash occurred as the driver of a 2007 Dodge Caliber was making a left turn from Northeast Halsey Street onto Northeast 118th Avenue.

Manuel D. Espana Torres, of Portland, was driving a 2009 Acura east on Northeast Halsey Street when he struck the Dodge on the passenger side. Zachary D. Fine was driving a Dodge and died in an accident.

Detectives believe excessive speed contributed to the crash.

Espana Torres underwent a medical examination and was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and reckless driving.
