Police in Knoxville capture 2 criminals, 1 of whom is involved in the shooting in Alabama – says KPD

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Knoxville Police Department announced Thursday that officers have arrested two criminals, including one charged in an Alabama shooting.

According to KPD Communications Manager Scott Erland, officers were informed over the weekend about Abdul Khalil’Llah, 26, of Anniston, Alabama. They were told that Khalil’Llah had been involved in a shooting in Alabama and that he was wanted out of Georgia for failure to appear on previous charges.

On Monday, Erland said detectives located Khalil’Llah at an AirBnB at 103 Greenbrier Dr., where he and another man were seen getting into a car and leaving.

Officers stopped the car, Erland said, taking Khalil’Llah and another man, Varrenzo Bradford, 26, of Statham, Georgia, into custody. Erland said Bradford, who had a gun, methamphetamine and cocaine on him, was also a felon.

Detectives then executed a search warrant on the AirBnB, Erland said, arresting the man and woman at the home. None of them were charged.

Khalil’Llah was charged with being a fugitive from justice in order to obtain a warrant to leave Georgia, Erland said. Bradford was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm during a dangerous crime.

On Tuesday, Alabama investigators arrived in Knoxville, Erland said, where they, along with KPD and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, interviewed two suspects.
