USC Trojans lose QB for Julian Lewis vs. Colorado Buffaloes Deion Sanders?

USC Trojans the quarterback committed Julian Lewis visited the Colorado Buffaloes on October 26. This was his fourth visit to Colorad, and the Buffaloes qualified for the bowl that same day. USC’s decision was a fantastic experience as Colorado insisted on reversing Lewis’ decision.

Lewis is a four-star point guard from Carrollton (Ga.). He is one of the best at USC recruitment prospects for the class of 2025. On3 ranks Lewis as the 36th overall pick and the No. 7 quarterback in the nation. Although Lewis has been committed to the USC Trojans since August 2023, there is an increasing possibility that the quarterback will turn around.

Lewis visited Colorado on October 26, when the Buffalos defeated the Cincinnati Bearcats 34-23. With the victory, the Buffaloes improved to 6-2, meaning Colorado was eligible to play in the bowl for the first time since coach Deion Sanders took over. Colorado is using this momentum to help build its recruiting class, and Lewis is a top target for the Buffaloes.

“We know he had a fantastic experience this weekend in Colorado, speaking to sources who have spent time or have knowledge of his recruitment,” On3’s Steve Wiltfong said.

Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders is a top prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. Therefore, Colorado is looking for a quarterback to start next season. Getting playing time as a true freshman is of real interest to Lewis and could influence his decision. Playing right away may not be something the USC Trojans can promise Lewis.

“To get around the players on the team, go back to the coaching staff and see how the Colorado program is really growing,” Wiltfong said. “He was there for spring training and I remember the family. I remember his dad telling me, ‘They’ve got the playmakers, this is an offense that’s going to be explosive.’ They wanted to see it live, real action, and that’s what they got.

The Colorado Buffaloes are one of two programs pushing hard to land Lewis. The second school making waves is the Indiana Hoosiers. Lewis will visit Indiana on Nov. 9 when the Hoosiers host the Michigan Wolverines. Both Colorado and Indiana have momentum this season and boast winning records.

USC coach Lincoln Riley he hasn’t given up, but he will have to work to stop Lewis. In addition to good communication, the Trojans must continue to win games and score points on offense. Lewis should be excited about the offense he will be playing with. The Trojans defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in week nine, 42-20. It was a strong offensive performance and a step in the right direction.

USC will continue to push to retain their future quarterback. Lewis is a player who provides hope and excitement for the program. Lewis visited the Trojans twice this fall. USC is now 4-4 and looking to get back to a winning record in Week 10 against the Washington Huskies.

It is worth paying attention to the status of the place where Lewis will play in 2025. He is still committed to the USC Trojans, but the Colorado Buffaloes are keeping the pressure on while the quarterback still has a visit to Indiana ahead of him.
