Peoria teenager turned in weeks after being stabbed during a high school football game

A 14-year-old boy turned himself in Peoria Police detectives after October 18 stabbing during a high school football game.

The stabbing occurred at Peoria High School during a football game around 9:15 p.m

“School support officers received information that this was an isolated incident between two juveniles near the stands. One of the minors suffered minor abdominal injuries and was transported to a local hospital,” police said.

The 14-year-old suspect, whose name has not been released, allegedly fled before officers could find him. On October 30, he surrendered to the police.

“The suspect was interviewed and then transported to the Durango Juvenile Detention Center. The suspect was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of assault. These charges are preliminary and may be changed,” the police said.

Apparently there was a “misunderstanding between both minors” before the stabbing.

The Peoria Police Department, in partnership with the Peoria Unified School District, is committed to providing the safest environment possible for staff and students. The campus area of ​​each school should be considered a safe place and those willing to compromise will be identified, arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” police said.
