A Michigan man allegedly pulled out a gun during a traffic conflict on I-75 in Oakland County

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI. – A Michigan man is accused of pulling a gun during a traffic conflict on I-75 in Oakland County earlier this week, state police said.

At approximately 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 28, a police officer working on a construction site in Oakland County was notified of a dispute involving road rage and felonious assault with a firearm.

The trooper obtained the suspect’s license plate and description of the vehicle and then located the vehicle in heavy traffic in a construction zone, according to State Police.

A traffic stop was conducted and the officer discovered that the driver, 38-year-old Ovidius, was carrying a handgun. He was detained and the weapon was seized.

State police say the case is pending review by a prosecutor.

“Unfortunately, we continue to encounter drivers who ignore minor traffic violations,” said Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw. “This was the one time where heavy construction traffic was actually a good thing and helped get the suspect off the street before anyone got hurt.”
